Design log

Every element on this page arrives by decision, not by default. Each step we settle gets recorded here β€” the question, the call, and what it changed.

  1. 1

How does the user get to an answer β€” typing, or choosing?

Choosing. Four panels of preset buttons, with a custom field wherever a value might sit outside the presets.

Vial, diluent, syringe and dose became click-to-select panels. Illustrations were drawn for each one β€” our own vial, a bacteriostatic water vial, and the three U-100 barrels β€” so the choice is recognisable before it is read.

  2. 2

Four candidate layouts were on the table. Which one survives?

This one, alone, at the main address.

The other three layouts were deleted from the codebase and taken offline. This page moved to /reconstitution-dose-calculator, and the dose panel was retitled to say plainly what it asks for.

  3. 3

Drawn ruler, or the real syringe?

Photographs of the actual 30, 50 and 100 unit barrels, with the draw marked on them.

Each photo was calibrated by locating its printed scale numerals and fitting a line through them, so any unit value maps to an exact height on the image. The picture swaps with the syringe the user selects, and the barrel fills to the calculated draw.
